.13. Deacon Edward

Because I was able to get this off of the hospital website (here), here's a pic of little Deacon! At 7 pounds 10 ounces he is their smallest baby. Both Jocie and Anna weighed 8 pounds. He's pretty adorable if I do say so myself!

Here's a couple of other pictures that their photographer Shirley sent to me, taken the day he was born. I emailed her to see if she had one of Deacon and Anna because I really wanted to see one of them together. All she had processed were these, but she is supposed to be sending me one of him and Anna. :)

He favors Anna a little I think. :)

Happy belated "Birth" day Deacon!

.12. Books and binders and suitcases OH MY!

Good grief, when I walked into class this morning, my eyes about popped out! There were stacks of new textbooks EVERYWHERE! We got 7 new textbooks this morning. YES, I said 7. And these were to go along with the other 5 thick, heavy textbooks that we already have plus lots of little looseleaf workbook thingys. I'm already using a rolling backpack to carry all of my loot, I just now upgraded to my Roxy suitcase. You know it's bad when you have to use a suitcase to carry all of your books to school. Let's just say I'd rather take a suitcase than break my back though. Oh well, I guess know that it will be worth it in the end!!! Only 10 months to go!

Here's a pic of all of my books, workbooks, and binders stacked up:

.10. The blonde

is gone!!

Got my hair dyed today. I like it, but I don't know what my hairdresser was thinking. I told her I wanted chocolate brown and ended up with auburn?!? Oh well, she said it would fade so I will give it a month or so and if not... time for a new dye job! (I really do like it, I just really really wanted a chocolate brown color with some caramel highlights.)

.8. Blog Hop

So I "missed" the blog hop this week, but I thought I'd go ahead and do it anyway since I've been running behind lately. This week's blog hop was your favorite recipe or dish.

Apple Chicken Quesadillas

Ingredients

4 Flour tortillas (approximately 8-inches wide)
1 cup cooked, shredded or chopped, chicken meat
1/4 lb cheddar or Monterey jack cheese, sliced or grated
1 apple, sliced
1/4 cup salsa

1 Heat a large skillet on medium high heat. Place one tortilla in the skillet. Flip it a couple of times with a spatula, then let it sit in the pan heating up until air pockets form and parts of the tortilla begin to puff up. Flip it again.

2
Place cheese slices on half of the tortilla, at least 1/2-inch from the edge of the tortilla. Add chicken pieces on top of the cheese. Fold the tortilla over like an omelette, and press down on the folded tortilla with the spatula. Lower the heat to medium. At this point, if you have enough room in your skillet, you can add a second tortilla to the pan to begin to heat it up.

3 When the cheese inside the quesadilla has melted, remove the quesadilla to a cutting board. Open it wide and layer on apple slices and salsa. Fold the tortilla back again, and cut it into 3 triangles, as if you were cutting a pie. (You don't have to cut the quesadilla into triangles, it just makes it easier for kids to eat.)

4 Repeat with the remaining tortillas.

Makes 12 quesadilla triangles.

DELICIOUS! Recipe is from here. There are also pictures on her site if you want to see the food as it is cooked.

.7. Still alive!

I've got almost a week into nursing school and so far I love it! The more we talk about things (treating patients, the different areas of care, etc) the more I know in my heart that nursing is for me. It's awesome.

In other news, here's some cute pics of my Anna Banana in the dress I have deemed The Dress (one of my favorite dresses of all time!).

This next pic is one of my new faves. She looks so *old* to me here. I can't believe she will be 5 in September and starting Pre-K this year. Where oh where did the time go?

A cute one of her right before we went to Church one Sunday.

And this last one is just a cute one of her sleeping, which is where I'm headed. Goodnight!

.6. Blog Hop

So I've decided to do this blog hop thing (when I have time) since it seems kinda cool! This week's theme is:

Three Things you Didn't Know About Me

1) I have a temper.

2) I LOVE my Chi flat iron and would be SO lost without it.

3) I could be a beach bum and not think twice about it. I adore the ocean, beach, and Hawaiian lifestyle!! Maybe someday.. :D

.5. I Survived

I survived my first day of LPN school! Hooray! Looks like a pretty decent group of people (mostly) and I LOVE my teachers. They totally rock! (I just know!) Did not really do a whole lot today, mainly it was like orientation. We did play the name game with a ball of yarn and that was kinda crazy fun. You had this ball of yarn that was tossed from person to person across the room and you had to say your name and something that rhymed with it. I was Smashley Ashley. The catch was when you caught the ball, you had to follow the yarn from person to person and say what their name and rhyme was before you could say yours, then you tossed the ball to the next person. Kind of like that game Grandma's Suitcase.

Got home from school and Anna immediately attacked me! I missed her today! We played Wii bowling, as seen below:

Getting ready!

Showing me how she winds up her arm.

And finally telling me "Okay, that's enough pictures now." (I love her big brown eyes in this pic!)

That was pretty much my day today. I've got some homework to do (memorizing medical terminology and reading) so have a great weekend!

.4. Who's your bestie?

Who is your bestie? (Best Friend that is..)

Mine is for life, lemme tell ya! :D

On the way to Chili's yesterday she said, "Ashley.. do you know who my best friend is?" I said, "No, who?" She said, "You ARE!"

LOVE that child to the moon and back.

.3. Almost Friday

Ack, I only have 1 more full day before nursing school starts. Where oh where did my two weeks go?! My last day at DRH was on June 26, 2009. I have no idea where the time went.

Got all of my school supplies today:
3 inch 3 ring binder
loose leaf notebook paper
pens
pencils
highlighters
rubber bands
index cards
and probably 1 or 2 other things I'm forgetting.

Mom, Anna, and I also went to eat at Chili's and then went to the mall in OKC today. Anna got to go to Build-A-Bear and made a bear named Raspberry with a white and pink sequined dress. She loves it! She also got a couple of new dresses from baby Gap (my fave being the blue maxi dress that Madonna's daugher also has) and she also got a new pair of brown gladiator sandles from Dillard's. The girl has definitely got style. We also got baby Deacon a little outfit that will match his blue and cream colored puppy dog robeez. Only 3 more weeks until that sweet babe will be here.

Be back tomorrow with a cute pic from my cell phone of Anna eating at Chili's and I will have to get a picture of her in her dress and with Raspberry. I'm off to bed as it is 11:17 PM now!

.2. 4th of July

So to kick of my first official post on my blog, I thought I'd write about my 4th of July. Anna and I kicked off the day by going to the parade!

Isn't she adorable?! She kept saying "My car is so decorated!" "It's beautiful!"

All of our hard work paid off because we won first place in the 7 & under category! Woohoo! Here's some pictures of her with her ribbons. The purple one is the participant ribbon that everyone got and the blue one is her first place ribbon! She was WAY too excited about winning!

After the parade Anna and I went to Sonic and got a Dr. Pepper and Cherry Limeade, then I dropped her off at her house. I was going to go see the fireworks with my friends from church that night but it ended up raining us out. :/

Oh well, Anna decided to spend the night with us on Sunday night and we thought they were going to try the fireworks that night. Anna got all ready for them (and insisted that we can only go see the fireworks if we stay in the car):

Only to find out that they were not doing fireworks on Sunday night. BOO. They are rescheduled for the 17th so I guess we will be going to see them then. We had fun hanging out in the car though!
